Hello, I'm one of your students and I'm currently struggling with my mental health. I have zero confidence and no self worth anymore. Getting out of bed is a struggle and I keep asking myself what's the point when point of getting up and getting moving when nothing changes or keeps getting worse. I fought off addiction to drinking and smoking the green stuff and I'm hoping coming to your classes will help restore what I've lost in myself. Thanks for this episode, it was great.

Hi 👋 gentlemen So many valid opinions on both your parts, about where is JJ heading in the future. IMP JJ is like every other contact MA, at no time will the professional out way the average Joe. What I mean is there will be 10% semi/pro level athletes, and 90% guys like me, so it will be practically impossible for it to disappear, and that is in everything: boxing, MA, MMA, Olympians, and every other sport. Here is food for thought Professors: if we really want to gage or start getting a better understanding of the road JJ is going also interview the average school, instead of the high profile instructor. The little guy is the root of JJ for the 90% that will never go pro or even do more than a few tournaments, and the only reason that happens is so they can have something to talk about. Thank you 🙏 OSS

Hello gentlemen and thank you for having such a great guess. There is so much to talk about with this follow up , but I’ll keep it short. Bio: I have 34 years experience in MA’s and have had 4 schools. Started JJ at 52 and still training, 58 now. My current school is in Tampa , Florida area. What I have experienced and watch podcast like yours, too help educate me more, or at least to here other opinions/experience. We are the cause of all topics you touched on. Prof. Eric just didn’t forget his roots. And that is the narrative in our JJ society. Ex: Forget your roots, who are they kind of mentally. I don’t like wearing pajamas (Gi), why should I bow to this person, No Gi is the new Kimono, I saw this on RUclips, I want to work on this not what your teaching, omg 😱, I could go on forever. JJ is such a beautiful art and we are almost destroying it. OSS 🙏

Sir thank you so much for speaking the truth, about teaching and all that goes with it, and if any one is butt hurt, it is because the truth hurts. I’m going on six years now in my JJ journey, and it’s a horror show, when anyone thinks they can teach, especially if they won a couple of medals. I truly believe that you have to start somewhere, but if the academy isn’t making an attempt in some kind way educating potential instructors, then all of these bad things are going to happen. OSS

Thank you so much , I finally meet someone like me in the JJ world in my area. I can give my opinion on how I feel, but why? He pretty much said it. I have a school for 2 years, I have 2 full blown martial arts, the original style of TKD, and BJJ. Kids/teen for both arts excellent memberships and retention. NOW!! Adult BJJ only 9-12students in those two years, and guess what who cares, no major injuries like he described. Youngest student 19 oldest 53, and they always roll and take care of each, and enjoy JJ. Excellent real person thank you for having him on.
